Overnight, Russia launched 728 drones and 13 missiles at Ukraine

During the night of July 9 (starting from 8:00 p.m. on July 8), Russian forces carried out a massive aerial assault involving 741 air attack assets, including:

  • 728 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and various drone decoys launched from Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, Oryol, and Millerovo (Russia);
  • 7 cruise missiles (Kh-101/Iskander-K) from the Engels area in Saratov Oblast and Kursk Oblast (Russia);
  • 6 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aero-ballistic missiles launched from airspace over Lipetsk Oblast (Russia).

Main target of the attack: Volyn region, city of Lutsk.

Ukraine’s Air Defense Forces—including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) units, UAV systems, and mobile fire teams—engaged the assault.

Preliminary results as of 8:30 a.m.:

718 air targets neutralized, including:

  • 303 destroyed by firepower;
  • 415 lost by location/suppressed by EW systems.

Specifically:

  • 296 Shahed and other drones shot down by firepower;
  • 415 drones suppressed or location lost via EW systems;
  • 7 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles shot down.

There were confirmed strikes at 4 locations and debris from downed objects fell in 14 locations.
