Moldova’s airspace was violated several times by drones on the morning of 24 September during a Russian attack on Ukraine, including the Odessa region.
NewsMaker reported this, citing Moldova’s Ministry of Defence.
At 05:21, a Moldovan Border Police patrol detected an unidentified object moving from the direction of Velyka Kisnytsia in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region towards Vasilcău in Moldova’s Soroca district. The object later left Moldovan airspace.
Another drone entered from the direction of Kelmentsi in Ukraine’s Chernivtsi region and crossed the state border towards Larga in Moldova’s Briceni district at 06:14. Two minutes later, it left Moldovan airspace.
Another UAV entered Moldovan airspace at 06:35 from the direction of the Transnistrian district of Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region, heading towards Volovița in Soroca district. At 06:45, residents reported seeing it flying in the direction of Gura Căinarului, Lunga, Behrinești and Gura Camencii in Florești district.
Moldova’s Air Operations Service also reported another drone that entered the country’s airspace at 06:58 from the direction of Kodyma in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region, heading towards Socola in the Transnistrian region. At 07:11, the object disappeared from monitoring systems near the village of Cunița, Camenca.
For security reasons, Moldova temporarily closed its northern airspace. The airspace over the northern part of the country was reopened at 07:46.
