In New York, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese signed the Agreement on long-term support and cooperation between Ukraine and Australia.
The document affirms Australia’s commitment to continuing its support for Ukraine. Australia has already provided approximately €1 billion in military and financial assistance, including ammunition, guided weapons, air defense systems, and armored vehicles.
Australia will continue training Ukrainian warriors, participate in the NSATU and PURL programs and the Unmanned Systems Coalition. The agreement also provides for deeper cooperation in the defense industry. Ukraine and Australia will explore opportunities for the joint production of advanced air defense systems, missiles, unmanned systems, and other innovative defense products, including through the establishment of joint ventures.
The agreement also provides for energy support, assistance in returning Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, rehabilitation and reintegration of veterans, economic recovery and reconstruction, demining, maritime security, countering Russian propaganda, and attracting private capital and investment.
In total, Ukraine has now concluded 30 bilateral security agreements in implementation of the G7 Joint Declaration adopted in Vilnius on July 12, 2023: with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the United States, the European Union, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, Czechia, Slovenia, Ireland, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, and Australia.
