More than 60 Ukrainian drones attacked Russia’s Yaroslavl region overnight on September 17, regional governor Mikhail Yevrayev said.
“An oil refinery has been damaged. Emergency crews are working to extinguish the fires. Falling debris also shattered windows in several apartment buildings and damaged vehicles,” Yevrayev wrote on Telegram.
According to him, there were no casualties or injuries.
A fire broke out at the Yaroslavnefteorgsintez refinery, also known as Slavneft-YANOS. It is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, with a processing capacity of up to 15 million tonnes per year.
The refinery was previously targeted by drones on August 28 and has reportedly been attacked at least eight times since the beginning of the year.
Ukrainian drones also attacked Russia’s Rostov region overnight.
According to Astra, a fire broke out at the Rostov-on-Don Central military airfield. One of the fires was reported near an aircraft parking area.
The Moscow region was also targeted by Ukrainian drones overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said six drones flying towards the Russian capital had been shot down. He provided no further details.
