The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the loss of communication with an F-16 aircraft during the night of May 16. The pilot successfully ejected.

According to the report, on May 16 at approximately 03:30, communication was lost with an F-16 aircraft. The Ukrainian fighter jet was performing a mission to repel a Russian air attack.
According to preliminary data, the pilot destroyed three aerial targets and was engaging a fourth, using the aircraft’s cannon. However, a non-standard situation occurred onboard. The pilot steered the aircraft away from a populated area and successfully ejected.
Thanks to the prompt work of the search and rescue team, the pilot was quickly located and evacuated.
The pilot’s condition is satisfactory; he is in a safe location, and his life and health are not in danger, the Air Force assured.
To objectively determine all the circumstances, a commission has been appointed and has already begun its work.
