Russian forces attacked a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda in the Black Sea, killing its captain, a Ukrainian citizen.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reported the attack on Telegram.
“Overnight on 23 September, Russian forces struck a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda in the Black Sea. A fire broke out as a result of the attack,” the statement said.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, the ship’s captain, a Ukrainian citizen, was killed. The crew was evacuated by the Ukrainian Navy, and the fire was extinguished.
Storage facilities used to store medicines, household goods and food products were also attacked twice in succession. It took several hours to extinguish the fire.
