Ukraine’s Navy confirms destruction of Russian FSB patrol ship near Novorossiysk
The Russian FSB border patrol ship Izumrud, reportedly sunk near Novorossiysk, is now located alongside a pier, according to Ukraine’s Naval Forces.
The Ukrainian Navy released a satellite image showing the damaged vessel and confirmed that the ship had been destroyed as part of efforts to reduce Russia’s maritime military capabilities.
“Continuing to reduce the potential of the Russian aggressor at sea,” the Ukrainian Navy said in a statement.

According to Ukrainian military sources, the patrol ship of the Russian Border Guard Service was struck by the Ukrainian unmanned maritime system Sargan-3000 near Novorossiysk. The attack resulted in casualties among the ship’s crew, including dead and wounded personnel.
The Izumrud is a Project 22460 patrol ship operated by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). The vessel previously took part in the November 25, 2018 attack on Ukrainian Navy ships in the Kerch Strait, when Russian forces seized three Ukrainian vessels and captured 24 Ukrainian sailors.
