In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Andrey Gyurov signed a Security Cooperation Agreement for at least 10 years.
The agreement stipulates that Bulgaria will continue providing military assistance to Ukraine and will develop defense-industrial cooperation. Bulgaria is interested in co-producing drones and ammunition within the SAFE program. Joint production facilities will be established in both Ukraine and Bulgaria, and joint training exercises will also take place.
Ukraine and Bulgaria will cooperate in the fields of intelligence and security, countering hybrid threats and disinformation, and will strengthen security in the Black Sea region.
Particular attention is given to energy security. The countries will work to ensure that the energy corridor is fully operational.
The countries will also cooperate on sanctions policy, in the humanitarian sphere, and in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
Bulgaria also reaffirms its support for Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the achievement of a just peace, the importance of international initiatives—particularly the Coalition of the Willing—and the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Overall, Ukraine has already concluded 29 bilateral security agreements under the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine, adopted in Vilnius in July 2023, including with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the United States, the EU, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ireland, Greece, Albania, and Bulgaria.
