President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed two decrees enacting decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on synchronizing sanctions with decisions adopted by the European Union.
The synchronization of EU sanctions under the 20th package covers 120 individuals and entities and introduces economic sanctions targeting key sectors of the Russian economy.
Some of them are already under Ukrainian sanctions. Today’s decision concerns additional 16 Russian citizens and 31 companies from Russia, Belarus, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
Among the individuals are executives of Russian strategic enterprises, public institutions, and units of the Russian army, as well as persons serving Russia in our temporarily occupied territories.
The list also includes enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, manufacturers of electronic warfare systems, drone software and components, as well as oil, gas, and gold extraction companies. In particular, restrictions have been imposed on the Russian aerospace products and drone components manufacturer Atlant Aero LLC, as well as on Irz-Svyaz LLC, a Russian manufacturer of communication systems and components for UAVs and missiles.
Sanctions have also been imposed on companies from the UAE that sell machine tools and laboratory equipment, chemical products, and spare parts for commercial aircraft, as well as on an oil exporter in Belarus.
Ukraine has also imposed restrictive measures on three Russians: prosecutor Lyudmila Balandina, involved in systemic repression and human rights violations against individuals who supported Ukraine or criticized the Russian authorities; judge Dmitry Gordeev, also involved in repression and responsible for politically motivated rulings against opposition figures and human rights defenders; and Russian editor and propagandist Maria Sittel, who systematically spread disinformation.
Sanctions restrictions have also been applied to 19 Iranian nationals, 7 Sudanese nationals, and 11 Iranian companies involved in Iran’s ballistic missile and drone production programs.
“We continue to synchronize sanctions regimes with the EU and our partners. We expect further pressure to be increased on Russia and all those helping it sustain its aggression. We are already finalizing joint work on the drafts of next sanctions decisions by the EU and partner states, including the 21st sanctions package,” said Advisor – Commissioner of the President for Sanctions Policy, Vladyslav Vlasiuk.
