The U.S. Department of State has added several Russian individuals and military-related entities to its sanctions list for violations of the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act (INKSNA), according to a notice published in the U.S. Federal Register on Tuesday.
The newly sanctioned individuals are Russian nationals Andrey Gusev, Andrey Kosolapov, Vladislav Morozik, Aleksandr Prikhodko, and Sergey Tsybarev.
The sanctions also target the Russian Ground Forces and their subordinate units, the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense and its subordinate units, the Directorate for Advanced Interservice Research and Special Projects of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and the 1061st Logistics Support Center and its subordinate units.
In addition, the Russian companies Gedion Alpha Company and International Invest Company, along with their subsidiaries, were added to the sanctions list.
The sanctions took effect on July 24.
The INKSNA authorizes sanctions against foreign individuals and entities involved in transferring to, or acquiring from, Iran, Syria, or North Korea goods, services, or technologies controlled under multilateral non-proliferation agreements—including the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Missile Technology Control Regime—or items that could make a material contribution to the development of weapons of mass destruction or cruise or ballistic missile systems.
Under the sanctions, U.S. government agencies are prohibited from procuring goods, technologies, or services from the designated parties or entering into contracts with them. The measures also bar U.S. government assistance, arms sales, and the issuance of export licenses to the sanctioned individuals and entities.
