The National Bank of Ukraine has lowered its key policy rate from 15.5% to 15%, the governor Andriy Pyshnyi announced at a briefing.

“Taking into account the sustained decline in inflationary pressure and reduced risks related to external financing, the NBU Board decided to cut the policy rate to 15%. This decision aligns with bringing inflation to the 5% target over the policy horizon and will also support the economy,” Pyshnyi said.

He added that the NBU will continue to respond flexibly to changes in the distribution of monetary risks.

The National Bank of Ukraine raised its key policy rate to 10% in January 2022, and then to 25% in June 2022. The rate remained at this level for over a year. On July 27, 2023, it was lowered to 22%, beginning a gradual downward adjustment. In December 2024, in response to accelerating inflation, the regulator started raising the rate again, reaching 15.5% in March of last year, where it remained until recently.
