The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has raised its key policy rate to 15.5%.

NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyy announced the decision at a briefing.

“The Board of the National Bank of Ukraine has decided to raise the key policy rate to 15.5%, given the persistent increase in underlying price pressures and the more significant acceleration of headline inflation expected by the end of the year,” Pyshnyy said.

According to him, the rate increase is aimed at maintaining the attractiveness of hryvnia-denominated assets, ensuring stability in the foreign exchange market, and keeping inflation expectations under control. This should make it possible to return inflation to a downward trajectory toward the 5% target as early as 2027.

“The NBU is prepared to continue using its monetary policy instruments, including further tightening interest rate policy if necessary to contain price pressures,” the NBU governor emphasized.
