First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, during his working visit to the United States, held a series of meetings with representatives of major American businesses. They discussed joint projects in the nuclear sector, the supply of American LNG, joint oil and gas production, and other areas.

In particular, Denys Shmyhal thanked Dan Lipman, President of Global Business Initiatives at Westinghouse Electric Company, for the implementation of a unique project and exemplary cooperation. Together with Westinghouse, Ukraine has completely replaced Russian nuclear fuel with American fuel.

“We already have agreements for the supply of reactors and long-term heat removal systems, as well as confirmed intentions to build new power units and localize the production of fuel assembly components in Ukraine. This will fully meet Ukraine’s annual needs by 2028, contributing both to energy security and economic recovery. We will jointly implement advanced technologies and develop the nuclear sector,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

During a meeting with Executive Vice President of Cheniere Energy, Anatol Feigin, Denys Shmyhal congratulated the company on the tenth anniversary of the first export of American LNG to foreign markets. Currently, Cheniere is one of the leading American LNG producers and exporters with successful experience cooperating with Ukraine. There is significant potential to increase gas supplies to Ukraine and diversify routes to Europe. As the Minister of Energy noted, Ukraine is ready to offer its logistics capabilities and infrastructure for these purposes.

Denys Shmyhal also met with GE Vernova’s CEO of the Electrification Segment, Philip Piron, and Chief Corporate Officer Roger Martella. GE Vernova is a global energy company combining generation, grid solutions, and renewable energy, already implementing several joint projects with Ukrainian energy enterprises, including Ukrhydroenergo and Ukrenergo. The meeting addressed Ukraine’s urgent needs—transformers, substation equipment, innovative solutions for grid stabilization, and gas turbines. Ukraine is interested in signing long-term contracts between the company and Naftogaz, as well as expanding cooperation in nuclear energy, renewables, and knowledge exchange among specialists.

During a meeting with the founder and CEO of Invenergy, Michael Polsky, discussions focused on joint renewable energy projects. Invenergy is one of the largest private developers and operators of energy projects in the U.S. and globally. Ukraine is interested in long-term strategic partnership with the company and in exchanging expertise.

“We value the ongoing support and interest of leading international companies in the restoration and development of our energy sector. We are grateful to partners already working with Ukraine and in Ukraine. We are open to dialogue with everyone ready to jointly strengthen our energy resilience,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
