What is already becoming clear even to Trump is that the war with Iran has been a failure. But he still does not know how to get out of it. He cannot afford to lose — by signing a questionable deal — and at the same time he does not understand how to achieve victory.
And here he finds himself trapped. A force-based scenario does not produce the desired result, and negotiations do not either. The problem is that the only thing Trump does not have is time. The longer the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continues, the closer the global economic crisis comes — one that will hit everyone, including the United States. Iran is skillfully dragging out negotiations, understanding that time is on its side. The longer Iran holds out, the greater the risks for the Americans and the West.
On the other hand, Trump, by refusing to continue the military option, is also playing into Iran’s hands by giving it more time through unclear negotiations.
Unfortunately, in this trap, Iran is becoming stronger. In a month, global panic will intensify significantly, and the Iranians will be able to secure much better terms than today. They know this and are deliberately stalling.
