The government has allocated an additional UAH 7.7 billion to finance housing programmes for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from temporarily occupied territories. This was announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Specifically, UAH 6.6 billion has been allocated for vouchers for IDPs from occupied territories under the “eRecovery” programme. According to Svyrydenko, these funds will allow more than 3,300 families of combatants or persons with war-related disabilities to purchase housing.

The Prime Minister reminded that the state provides housing vouchers worth UAH 2 million per person or family whose homes remain in occupied territories. These vouchers can be used to buy housing on the primary or secondary market, make a down payment, or repay a mortgage on a newly built property.

According to Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, the programme has received more than 32,000 applications from this category of participants, with nearly 20,000 receiving positive decisions from local commissions.

The most applications came from IDPs residing in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv regions, and the capital, ranging from 2,500 to nearly 5,000 applications per region.

“This is only the start of programme financing. In the near future, we plan to attract €80 million in funding from the Council of Europe Development Bank,” Kuleba noted.

In addition, UAH 1.1 billion will be directed to the construction of social rental housing. It will be provided to Mariupol residents who lost their homes due to the war. A total of 505 displaced families from Mariupol will be able to receive this housing.
