The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved the use of two Ukrainian night vision monoculars, the MT GEKKO PRO 40 and MT GEKKO PRO 50, for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are compact devices that military personnel can use for night operations in the field.
According to the Ministry of Defense, these models have already been tested under combat conditions and feature reinforced protection designed for heavy-duty use. The Ministry also noted that the manufacturer refined the optics in collaboration with military specialists.
Depending on the configuration, the monoculars allow detection of enemy personnel at distances over 400 meters and vehicles at nearly 2,000 meters. The devices are not only for observation: they help with navigation, technical tasks, map reading, vehicle operation, and providing assistance to the wounded during nighttime operations.

Another key feature is versatility. The MT GEKKO PRO can be handheld or mounted on a helmet or weapon, allowing soldiers to operate hands-free while performing tasks. The Ministry emphasized that Ukrainian models are in most cases less expensive than foreign equivalents, which is crucial for large-scale provisioning of units.
Approval by the Ministry of Defense means the devices have passed official checks and can be legally used and procured for the Armed Forces. In practice, this speeds up the delivery of equipment from manufacturers to units and expands the availability of night vision devices, including those produced in Ukraine.
