Ukraine launched a series of long-range drone strikes overnight on August 3, targeting facilities in Russia and occupied Crimea, according to Russian and Ukrainian media reports.
In Russia's Belgorod region, drones reportedly struck the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov. Local outlet Pepel reported that multiple impacts triggered a major fire that destroyed one of the university's buildings.
According to the publication, the building housed the development and testing of an automated drone control system based on the Russian-made Milandr microprocessor. The university had publicly described the project as having civilian applications, including power line inspection, pipeline monitoring, and aerial surveying. Earlier this summer, the university also announced a drone development program for school students. Russian authorities have not officially commented on the reported strike.
Ukrainian drones also reportedly attacked a warehouse complex in Russia's Vladimir region. According to Exilenova+, the target was the Wildberries logistics center in Vorshinskoye.
The logistics center, covering 58,500 square meters, opened in December 2024 and was scheduled to expand to 175,000 square meters this year. It serves as a distribution hub for Moscow, central Russia, and the country's northwestern regions.
Meanwhile, explosions were also reported overnight in occupied Crimea. Ukrainian monitoring channels Krymskyi Veter and Exilenova+ said blasts occurred in the Saky district, Feodosia, Simferopol, and Kerch.
In Feodosia, the channels reported that Russian mobile air defense units attempted to intercept a drone, which may nevertheless have struck the area of the local oil depot. In Kerch, a fire broke out near the Central Market and bus station, close to the city's commercial port. Local residents also reported a fire near the port area.
Traffic across the Crimean Bridge was temporarily suspended following the attacks.
