Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, said the country's future depends on ensuring security, which must become the foundation of its economic development, as well as on membership in alliances capable of responding to the challenges of a new world order.
"Ukraine's future lies only in security. Security must also guarantee economic development. This is possible only if Ukraine is part of the appropriate economic and political environment—that is, alliances capable of responding to the challenges of the new world order," Zaluzhnyi said during a meeting of the Diplomatic Club at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center, where participants discussed the future of Ukraine and the world.
According to Zaluzhnyi, scientific and technological progress means that future wars could evolve into vast digital battlefields dominated by robotic systems and autonomous machines, either controlled by humans or operating with their own artificial intelligence.
"Alongside our war, the world is witnessing a struggle to reshape the global order. The old rules no longer work. This is demonstrated by both the war in Iran and Russia's war against Ukraine," he said.
Zaluzhnyi also stressed that changes to the global order are being driven not only by the war in Ukraine but also by a range of emerging strategic challenges facing many countries, including migration and internal transformations of political systems.
