Ukraine becomes Europe’s top exporter of frozen raspberries

Ukraine becomes Europe’s top exporter of frozen raspberries
Article top vertical

Ukraine has taken first place in Europe in raspberry exports. Based on last year’s harvest results, Ukraine overtook Poland and Serbia in terms of frozen raspberry exports to foreign markets. The President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UFVA), Taras Bashtannyk, emphasized that the country maintains its status as the most competitive producer due to lower production costs compared to its European neighbors.

He said this in the BioNorma podcast.

The approximate production cost of Ukrainian raspberries is €1.08 per kilogram, while in Poland and Serbia it is almost twice as high — €1.7 and €1.8 respectively.

The main export markets for Ukrainian raspberries remain Poland, which accounts for 45% of exports, and Germany, which accounts for 18%.

In recent years, Ukraine has been gradually taking market share in frozen berries from Serbia and Poland. Cheaper Ukrainian products are actively competing in the EU market, where their share already reaches about 9.5%.

Ukrainian companies have managed to overcome logistical challenges and border restrictions. Raspberry exporters have successfully diversified supply routes and established new export channels to Europe.

Taras Bashtannyk, President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association, is optimistic about Ukraine’s future in the raspberry sector. He believes that in the 2026–2027 season, Ukraine will be able to confirm its leadership in the European market.
