Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the Defense Procurement Agency (DOT) has signed a contract to purchase 1,500 motorcycles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“This is three times more than was purchased during the entire previous year. The entire batch of vehicles will be delivered to the military this year,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram, adding that “thanks to a transparent tender procedure, millions were saved and can now be used for additional support for the armed forces.”
He noted that motorcycles remain among the most in-demand vehicles at the front, alongside pickup trucks.
“Six companies participated in the motorcycle procurement tender. Thanks to the competitive process, we managed to save nearly UAH 12 million in budget funds, which will be directed toward additional military needs, including the procurement of other essential vehicles,” the minister said.
According to Fedorov, the same approach was previously used for the largest procurement of long-range 155 mm artillery shells.
“Competition among participants made it possible to secure better terms for the state and further strengthen support for the military. Our goal is to gradually transition to tender procedures for all defense procurements,” he added.
