The inaugural International Crimean Film Festival is now accepting entries for its competitive program, organizers announced. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 16 to 20, 2026, in Istanbul.

According to the State Film Agency of Ukraine, filmmakers from around the world can submit works until May 1 through the festival’s official website. Eligible films should focus on Crimea or the Crimean Tatar community, highlighting their history, culture, and contemporary issues.

The festival aims to showcase Crimean Tatar cultural heritage on an international stage and raise awareness of challenges faced by the community. Organizers said the event will merge traditional cinematic storytelling with modern technologies, including animated and AI-assisted films.

Competitions will be held in three categories:

  • Short films up to 35 minutes
  • Documentary films up to 70 minutes
  • Animated or AI-assisted films up to 10 minutes

“The festival’s concept combines classical cinema with modern innovations. Through the art of film, we aim to present the history, culture, and creative achievements of the Crimean Tatar people to a global audience,” tate Film Agency  noted.

The festival is expected to draw directors, producers, and artists from around the world, offering a platform for cultural dialogue and international recognition of Crimea’s artistic heritage.
