Military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation have exposed another Russian agent within the Defense Forces of Ukraine. He turned out to be an inspector of the State Border Guard Service who had been recruited by the Russian forces and was adjusting Russian strikes on northern regions of Ukraine.
It has been established that the suspect used Google Maps to plot routes for the “safe” movement of Russian missiles and strike drones, bypassing Ukrainian air defense.
To do this, during official trips to the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, the agent recorded the positions of radar stations, anti-aircraft missile systems, and mobile fire groups.
He then marked on electronic maps routes connecting Ukrainian air defense locations and calculated their topographic elevation in the terrain.

The processed information was stored on his personal smartphone for further transfer to his Russian handler. The handler’s identity has already been established; he turned out to be an officer of Russian military intelligence (better known as the GRU).
On instructions from the Russian intelligence officer, the agent also attempted to track the locations of Ukrainian drone units and energy infrastructure.
SSU officers preemptively uncovered the Russians’ plans and detained their agent while he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential “target.”
During searches, his smartphone containing a prepared “report” for the GRU and coordinates of Ukrainian facilities was seized.
The perpetrator is in custody with no right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
