Since the start of the full-scale war, Security and Defense Forces demining specialists have neutralized over 1 million explosive devices.
According to the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, nearly 6,500 km² of territory have been surveyed, 9,691 km of roads, 10,164 km of power lines, and 3,748 km of railways inspected. Additionally, 37,000 km² of deoccupied territory have been deemed safe for use following non-technical inspections.
“Thanks to systematic and coordinated work, we are able to accelerate demining operations carried out by mine action operators. We are grateful to everyone who, through daily painstaking work, returns full life to Ukrainian lands,” said Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Moreover, this year the area cleared by mine action operators has increased significantly compared to last year. In 2024, 38 km² were demined, whereas this year nearly 150 km² have already been cleared. On approximately 100 km², quality control of demining has been completed, resulting in the issuance of 478 certificates.
