Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that Norway has decided to allocate 500 million kroner to strengthen Ukraine’s nuclear safety.
“We welcome the decision of partner countries to provide funding to ensure Ukraine’s nuclear safety following international events marking the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster,” Svyrydenko said.
She noted that the Norwegian government has announced the allocation of 500 million kroner for this purpose.
The United States Department of State has also announced its intention to allocate $100 million to support the safety of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
According to Svyrydenko, the funds will be directed toward addressing the consequences of Russian strikes on the New Safe Confinement in February 2025 and efforts to ensure the continued safe containment of nuclear materials at the plant.
The Prime Minister thanked partners for their consistent and effective support in strengthening Ukraine’s energy and nuclear security.
