Ukraine has received new modern equipment for soil research and sampling under Japan’s Emergency Recovery Program (JICA), implemented by the Japanese government.
The handover ceremony took place on October 14 in Kyiv, according to the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Soil Protection Institute received over 100 pieces of specialized equipment, including gas chromatographs, atomic absorption spectrometers, electronic tachymeter stations, acid purification systems, automatic soil samplers, generators, pickups, and other tools necessary for restoring agricultural work in de-occupied territories.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Denys Bashlyk emphasized that this is not just technical assistance but an investment in the recovery of Ukrainian agriculture.
He said: “Japan is helping us restore the land, literally bringing it back to life. This contribution will be felt by Ukrainian communities, farmers, and everyone working the land, which has suffered from war for years.”
Japan’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome, noted that the agricultural sector is the foundation of any society and economy. He stressed that Ukrainian agriculture is vital for global food security, and Japan will continue supporting Ukraine.
