Watermelon harvesting is underway in Ukraine's Kherson region, where farmers have already collected 3,000 tonnes of produce. Regional authorities expect this year's total harvest of melons and watermelons to reach 25,000 tonnes.
The figures were announced by Kherson Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin.
"Overall, striped berries cover 1,000 hectares of our fields. The largest growing areas are located in the Velyka Oleksandrivka, Novovorontsovka, Muzykivka, Bilozerka, and Kherson communities," Prokudin said.
