As part of preparations for a meeting of foreign ministers, government representatives and civil society organisations, Canada is preparing to host the second International Conference focused, among other issues, on the return of Ukrainian children, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced.
“Canada will soon host the second International Conference on the return of Ukrainian children, detained civilians and prisoners of war,” Anand wrote on X following a conversation with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
According to Anand, the talks focused on preparations for a meeting that will bring together foreign ministers, government representatives, civil society organisations and other participants from around the world.
“We aim to facilitate further returns and support the rehabilitation and reintegration of people returning home,” Anand stressed.
She said Canada would work with Ukraine, Norway and other countries to strengthen international coordination, uphold international law and call on Russia to fulfil its obligations.
