The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published information on 110 cultural assets appropriated by Russian forces during archaeological excavations between 2014 and 2025 in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The data appears in the OBJECTS OF UKRAINIAN HERITAGE section on the War&Sanctions portal, the agency reported on Facebook.
The looted items were discovered during illegal excavations at archaeological sites such as the Artesian Settlement, the Genoese Fortress of Chembalo, and the Southern Suburb of Chersonesus Taurica.
Additionally, the publication includes information about cultural assets from the Kadykivske settlement (a Roman camp), where the Russian-installed “administration” of Sevastopol plans to build a shopping mall, as well as exhibits looted from the Chersonesus Taurica National Preserve under the guise of a temporary exhibition at the Yekaterinburg Museum of History.
The section has been updated with details about locations of illegal excavations, documented cases of cultural asset theft, and other unlawful actions committed by Russian forces in Crimea.
