The Ukrainian agro-industrial group MHP, owned by Yuriy Kosyuk, has signed an agreement to acquire a stake in the Greek vertically integrated company Th. Nitsiakos AVEE. The deal provides for a phased purchase of 70% of the shares over several years, with the option to later increase MHP’s stake to 100%, according to the company’s statement.

Th. Nitsiakos AVEE is one of the leading players in the food industry and the largest meat producer in Greece, headquartered in the city of Ioannina.

The company is engaged in the production and distribution of poultry meat, other types of meat, as well as feed for agricultural and domestic animals.

According to the company’s results for 2025, its revenue amounted to about €540 million. This integration is another step in the international expansion of Kosyuk’s holding, which last year acquired the Spanish company Uvesa.

Th. Nitsiakos AVEE states on its website that it is the only producer in Greece covering all basic types of meat.

The company was founded in 1972 by Theodoros Nitsiakos, who decided to establish a small chicken farm. To raise the starting capital for his son, his parents had to sell their own sheep.

In the 1980s, the company launched its own poultry processing plant, and in the 2010–2020 period it expanded beyond poultry farming, starting rabbit breeding and launching a red meat processing line.

As a result, in 2024 the company even removed its traditional rooster from its logo, emphasizing its status as a multi-product food corporation rather than just a poultry farm.

“I am convinced that together we will build an effective partnership that will strengthen the international part of the MHP group and ultimately allow our business in Ukraine to remain resilient and develop,” Kosyuk commented on the deal.

Over the years of the full-scale war, the company MHP has opened a new value-added food production facility in Dnipro, acquired “Ukrainian Meat Farm” for its further development, and also begun developing biomethane production.

For several consecutive years, MHP has been among the leaders in terms of investment volume and is the largest taxpayer in the agricultural sector. Alongside the development of its international business, MHP continues to make a significant contribution to the Ukrainian economy, support the Defense Forces, and sustain a team of 32,000 employees in Ukraine.
