Ukraine and Moldova have discussed the possibility of increasing the volume of Moldovan gas stored in Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko during a briefing following a meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Oleksandr Munteanu.
“We highly value the fact that Moldovan companies store gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities. At today’s meeting, we discussed the possibility of increasing these volumes. Ukraine can offer favorable conditions, as our gas storage tariffs are among the lowest in Eastern Europe,” Svyrydenko stressed.
The meeting also addressed promising infrastructure projects, in particular the development of bridge connections across the Dniester River.
The sides also agreed to continue work on simplifying procedures and developing border infrastructure, which should speed up border and customs controls and promote the development of trade and transit.
“Our governments are also committed to substantive and regular cooperation in the economic sphere, and for this purpose an effective tool has already been created — the Ukrainian-Moldovan Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. In addition, we see great potential for cooperation in the ‘triangle’ format of Ukraine–Moldova–Romania. It is important for us to maintain this connection and develop consultations in a trilateral format in the fields of energy, transport, and logistics, taking into account the security challenges in our region,” the Prime Minister added.
