As part of the “Food from Ukraine” initiative, a Food Processing and Distribution Center has been launched in the Republic of Ghana.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
“Ukraine has opened its first agro-hub on the African continent — in the Republic of Ghana. Within the framework of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Food from Ukraine initiative, a Food Processing and Distribution Center has begun operations. The agro-hub was created by Ukrainian agribusiness in cooperation with the government of Ghana as a result of agreements reached during the Food from Ukraine conference in November 2025,” the statement said.
Ukrainian products will be combined with local ones to form food packages and ensure their distribution. The next stage will involve developing processing, packaging, and portioning directly in Ghana. The first packages already include locally produced rice and pasta made in Ghana from Ukrainian flour. During the opening, 4,000 food packages were distributed to the most vulnerable groups of the population, including Ghanaian widows.
According to Svyrydenko, this represents a new format of Ukrainian producers’ global presence, where humanitarian support is combined with partnership development and the strengthening of local economies. Ukraine considers Ghana an important partner in West Africa for humanitarian assistance and trade development on the continent’s western coast.
“We are ready to share expertise, technologies, and experience in improving agricultural yields in order to jointly strengthen global food security,” she said.
