Ukraine certifies new demining vehicle: UDM VORMELA

A Ukrainian company has received a certificate of conformity for its own development—a light remote-controlled demining vehicle, the UDM VORMELA, the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture reported.

According to technical specifications, the vehicle can clear between 1,500 and 2,500 square meters per hour, depending on soil type and vegetation density. Its working depth reaches up to 25 cm. The main working tool is a hammer mulcher, which protects the platform from anti-personnel mines, hand grenades, and artillery fragment submunitions. The vehicle’s body is made of Mars 500 armored steel.

Weighing 6 tons, the UDM VORMELA does not require special transport for relocation. The model offers two chassis configurations (solid rubber wheels or track attachments) and can be equipped with additional implements: skeleton or standard buckets, a pallet loader, and a rotating dozer blade.

The manufacturer noted that, despite using foreign components (John Deere engine, Poclain hydraulics), the vehicle has a high level of local production. The company plans to apply for the state program “Made in Ukraine,” which allows buyers to receive a 15% cashback.

Maintenance and repairs will be carried out within Ukraine.

As of the end of December 2025, the demining sector had expanded to 294 vehicles. A significant portion of this equipment is already produced domestically, and nine more vehicles are at various stages of certification. In total, the sector employs 132 certified demining operators.

Currently, about 137,000 sq km of potentially mined territory remain in Ukraine, of which only 15–20% require direct demining.
