Ukraine and Albania have signed an International Road Transport Agreement, creating new opportunities for transport operations between the two countries and strengthening trade and economic cooperation.

The announcement was made by Ukraine’s Ministry for Communities and Territories Development.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Serhii Derkach and Albania’s Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi.

The document establishes the legal framework for international road transport of passengers and goods between Ukraine and Albania, as well as transit transportation through the territories of both countries. It also provides for the introduction of a “transport visa-free regime,” liberalizing freight transportation between the two states.

“Expanding the geography of transport links is a key priority for the Ministry and our team. We are consistently working to increase the number of countries with which we have direct transport connections. Albania is the 37th country with which we will have a transport visa-free regime,” said Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.

The ministry noted that the signing of the agreement is an important step toward expanding Ukraine’s transport cooperation with the countries of Southeastern Europe and will facilitate the development of new logistics routes for Ukrainian businesses.

The agreement also provides for the establishment of a joint commission that will coordinate transportation procedures, exchange statistical information, and promote cooperation between the competent authorities of the two countries.

The document will enter into force following the completion of the necessary domestic procedures in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and Albania.
