Ukraine is open to leveraging Polish experience, technologies, and investments for the implementation of its maritime sector recovery plan, which has a budget of EUR 550 million, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development reported.
According to the Ministry's Facebook post, plans for Poland’s involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction were discussed during a meeting between First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Aliona Shkrum, Deputy Minister Andriy Kashuba, and Poland's Special Representative for Ukraine's Reconstruction, Pawel Kowal.
"Special attention was given to the implementation of the joint Ukrainian-Estonian Maritime Sector Recovery Plan, with a total budget of EUR 550 million," the statement said. Kashuba emphasized that rebuilding maritime infrastructure is one of the key priorities.
"We already have positive experience working with international partners in the modernization of ports and shipbuilding. Together with Estonia, we have developed a large-scale Maritime Sector Recovery Plan for Ukraine and are now open to incorporating Polish experience, technologies, and investments for its implementation. We invite Polish partners to participate in areas such as shipbuilding, fleet modernization, port development, maritime logistics, and demining," Kashuba said, as quoted by the Ministry’s press service.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the participation of Polish companies in Ukraine’s reconstruction. In particular, they talked about the program to support Polish business, launched by Poland’s Ministry of Development and Technology in collaboration with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
According to Aliona Shkrum, one of Ukraine’s priorities is the creation of joint Ukrainian-Polish enterprises in Ukraine, particularly in the fields of construction, IT, healthcare, and food production, which will contribute to both recovery and economic development.
It was also noted that the parties agreed to continue consultations regarding Poland’s participation in implementing infrastructure projects in Ukraine.
