The Defense Procurement Agency (DOT), following the directive of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, has systematically increased the procurement of engineering mines and drone munitions.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to him, “in the first three months of 2026, over 50% of the total volume of these items delivered throughout 2025 has already been supplied. By the end of the year, volumes will be significantly higher. As a result of systematically scaling up procurement, units are receiving strike means more quickly directly on the front lines.”

“Engineering mines destroy enemy equipment and force it to move according to our scenario — into ‘kill zones.’ The cost of a single mine is significantly lower than the equipment it stops or destroys. That’s the math of war,” Fedorov noted.

He added,

“Ammunition for UAVs allows us to strike infantry and light vehicles precisely without using expensive large-caliber munitions. They reach the enemy where other means are ineffective and conserve resources for more complex targets. The military needs these items in large volumes, so we continue to scale up deliveries. Together with the Armed Forces, we actively follow the war plan. One of the key tasks is to strengthen units and provide them with the necessary means,” the Defense Minister emphasized.

He also stated that “we have already updated the annual requirements and are significantly increasing procurement in key categories: FPV drones, reconnaissance and strike UAVs, munitions for them, engineering mines, and other solutions that daily determine effectiveness on the battlefield.”

“The team’s priority is the transformation of the procurement system. Our goal is to make it one of the most transparent and efficient in the world. Procurements must work quickly and without bureaucracy. The speed of contracting and delivery directly affects the lives of servicemen on the front lines,” Fedorov stressed.
