The film “The Last Prometheus of Donbas” by director Anton Shtuka has been selected to participate in the international film festival Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz.

The film will represent Ukraine in the Working Worlds programme — a section that addresses pressing issues of contemporary Europe through the lens of social conflicts and harsh realities.

“For the creative team, this is an important stage of the festival journey, as participation in such a section allows the story of Ukrainian resistance to be presented on a broader international level and engages European audiences in a deeper discussion about the values and challenges of our time,” the State Film Agency noted.

Screenings of the film at the festival are scheduled for April 29 and May 3.

The agency emphasizes that “The Last Prometheus of Donbas” captures the struggle between light and darkness. Despite constant shelling and danger, power plant workers remained at their posts and supplied the region with electricity until it was ultimately destroyed.

The film does not attempt to explain the war in political terms; instead, it shows how it enters everyday life and transforms it from within. Above all, the project is a personal story rather than a summary of events.

The film was produced by Attention Films with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine on Film Affairs, the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and Kyivstar TV Originals.

Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz is one of the major European film festivals dedicated to contemporary auteur cinema. Each year, the festival program focuses on socio-political themes and the cultural diversity of Europe, offering audiences films that reflect the real situation in different parts of the continent and encourage critical thinking.
