Switzerland is providing 1.7 million Swiss francs to improve the operation of Mykolaiv’s water supply system.
This was reported on the website of the Mykolaiv City Council.
“Switzerland is providing Mykolaiv with a new contribution of 1.7 million Swiss francs (about UAH 95 million) to support the stable operation of water supply and wastewater systems,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the relevant Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the Mykolaiv City Council, Mykolaivvodokanal, and the Swiss company Elektrobedarf Troller.
The purpose of the cooperation is to install photovoltaic systems with battery energy storage at the city’s water treatment facilities. As part of the project, solar panels and electricity storage systems will be installed at 11 facilities of Mykolaivvodokanal. This will ensure more stable operation of critical infrastructure, even amid frequent power outages and shelling.
It is expected that about 426,000 residents of Mykolaiv, approximately 85% of the city’s population, will receive more reliable water supply services.
The project implementation will last until March 2027.
