On February 5, the Swedish government announced energy aid to Ukraine totaling 1 billion Swedish kronor (USD 111.11 million).

According to Sweden Herald, the funds will support Ukraine’s energy system.

“In just one month, Russia has knocked out one-fifth of energy production. The situation is incredibly tense,” said Sweden’s Minister for International Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa.

The 1 billion kronor provided for energy support is the first tranche of a total of 10 billion kronor allocated for Ukraine this year.

Part of the funds will go to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, and another part to the UN Development Programme. The aid will be used, among other things, to provide Ukraine with energy equipment, including power plants, heat fans, and spare parts for repairing damaged facilities.
