Russian attacks across Ukraine leave civilians injured and damage infrastructure

Russian forces carried out multiple attacks across Ukraine on March 8–9, injuring civilians and damaging homes and critical infrastructure.

In Kharkiv region, 15 settlements came under fire, leaving a 59-year-old man injured in Slatyne, Dergachivska community. Attacks involved six “Tornado” rocket launchers, nine Geran-2 UAVs, two 'Molniya' drones, four FPV drones, and additional unidentified UAVs. Damage included private homes in Zolocheve, Balakliya, Borova, Vilshany, Pivdenne, Dokuchaievske, Dergachi, and Slatyne, as well as agricultural facilities and railway infrastructure. Authorities reported ongoing efforts to assess the full scale of destruction.

In Kherson region, strikes hit 30 settlements, injuring one civilian. Damage affected homes, farm buildings, and vehicles across Berislav, Novodmytrivka, Bilozirka, Zolota Balka, Ukrayinka, Romashkove, and surrounding communities. Local emergency services are working to restore power and clear debris from affected areas, while authorities continue to document damage for future reconstruction.

In Donetsk region, Russian attacks killed one person in Shabelkivka and injured three others in Druzhkivka. Regional casualties now total 4,077 dead and 8,997 injured, excluding Mariupol and Volnovakha. Rescue teams also reported property damage to residential buildings and local infrastructure, complicating relief efforts in the region.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, drone strikes caused fires and damaged infrastructure in Nikopolskyi and Samarivskyi districts. No casualties were reported, but a local enterprise and multiple residential buildings were affected. Firefighters and emergency services remain on site to prevent further damage and contain the fires.

In Sumy region, five people were injured during attacks, with damage to homes, vehicles, a locomotive, and a trolleybus line. Law enforcement deployed explosive ordnance disposal teams and investigators to survey the damage, ensuring safety and documenting the attacks for potential war crimes cases.
