Russian forces attacked railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions using drones, damaging a train and railcars.
This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksii Kuleba.
“Russia continues to strike our infrastructure. Ukrzaliznytsia is once again under attack,” Kuleba said.
On Tuesday, May 5, at around 07:30 in the Kharkiv region, a Russian UAV attacked and destroyed a railcar.
“But the main thing is that people are safe. The monitoring center worked, thanks to which the train attendant moved to a mobile shelter in time. The locomotive crew was also protected. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties,” Kuleba said.
In the Poltava region, a Russian drone struck between the tracks near a diesel locomotive. No one was injured, but a railcar was damaged, and the explosion caused a fire.
According to Kuleba, “another Russian strike hit a station in the Dnipropetrovsk region. During the UAV attack, an electric locomotive standing on the track was damaged.”
The train had been stopped in advance due to the drone threat. As a result, workers had been warned ahead of time and were in shelters. No casualties were reported.
