One of Ukraine’s largest grain market operators, LLC NIBULON (Mykolaiv), has expanded its river freight operations on the Danube and opened a new logistics route involving Moldovan ports, the company announced on its Facebook page.
“After entering the Middle and Upper Danube markets in 2025, Nibulon opened a new route involving Moldovan ports. The first operation implemented a comprehensive logistics scheme: a voyage from Izmail (Ukraine) to Galați (Romania) transporting 3,600 tons of metallurgical slag,” the company said.
According to NIBULON, after unloading, the vessel sailed to the port of Giurgiulești (Moldova), where it loaded 5,000 tons of rapeseed for further transport to Constanța, Romania. The total cargo volume for the voyage exceeded 8,600 tons.
In addition, NIBULON tested a two-way logistics scheme, delivering grain from Izmail to ports in Bulgaria with return trips carrying mineral fertilizers from Serbia to Moldova.
“This format minimizes empty voyages and increases fleet efficiency,” the company emphasized.
Overall, in 2025, NIBULON transported over 110,000 tons of cargo via river transport. Its own fleet allows the agribusiness to move various types of goods, including agricultural products, fertilizers, slag, and metals, and to adapt routes to market needs.
Before the war, NIBULON managed 82,000 hectares of land across 12 Ukrainian regions and exported agricultural products to more than 70 countries. In 2021, the grain trader exported a record 5.64 million tons of agricultural products. After the war began, the company moved its central office from Mykolaiv to Kyiv. In addition to 23 elevator complexes, NIBULON owns road and rail transport assets and a fleet built at its own shipyard, which continues river transport operations during wartime.
NIBULON is also actively developing its humanitarian demining unit to restore safety on leased lands and support Ukraine’s agricultural sector. The company is a certified operator in demining activities.
