More than 197 million tons of cargo have been transported through Ukraine’s maritime corridor since it began operations in 2023.

This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba following a working visit to the Odessa region.

He noted that 117 million tons of this volume consisted of grain.

“Despite ongoing Russian terror, Ukrainian ports continue to operate, ensure exports, support the economy, and perform a critically important function for many countries around the world,” Kuleba added.

During a meeting involving port leadership as well as representatives of the Odessa regional and city military administrations, participants discussed the protection of port infrastructure and workers amid constant Russian attacks.

Kuleba said that some ports are already demonstrating effective results in implementing protection systems, including the creation of mobile air-defense fire groups and other measures that allow terminals to remain operational even during shelling. This experience is expected to be extended to other port facilities in the region.
