Lithuania has submitted a formal protest to Russia over the Easter attacks on civilians in Ukraine.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on X.
“Today Lithuania lodged a protest note to Russia over its Easter terror campaign against Ukrainian civilians. Attacking a market or a bus stop full of civilians is a war crime,” the ministry stated.
The Lithuanian MFA emphasized that between April 4 and 7, Russia attacked residential buildings, shopping centers, and public transport facilities across Ukraine using combat drones, guided bombs, and missiles, according to Delfi.
The note, delivered to a representative of the Russian embassy in Lithuania, stressed that such actions are considered war crimes and that accountability for them is not subject to statutes of limitations.
“The Republic of Lithuania will continue to make every effort to hold the organizers and perpetrators of these crimes accountable and demands that the Russian Federation immediately cease its aggression against Ukraine, withdraw its occupying forces from all internationally recognized Ukrainian territory, and fully compensate Ukraine for the damage caused by Russian aggression,” the ministry added.
