The Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio has been included in the list of “Treasures of European Film Culture” compiled by the European Film Academy (EFA), Ukraine’s State Film Agency reported on its Facebook page.

“The decision of the European Film Academy confirms the studio’s status as one of the key film production centers in Eastern Europe and an important part of Europe’s cultural heritage.”

It is noted that the initiative, launched in 2022, recognizes locations of special historical and symbolic significance for European cinema.

The updated list also includes cinemas and filming locations in Berlin, Stockholm, Riga, and Tallinn.

The Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio was founded in 1927, and more than a thousand films have been produced there. Notable figures who worked at the studio include Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Sergei Parajanov, and Leonid Bykov.
