The total area of Russian occupation in Ukraine increased by 68.61 square kilometers over the past week, from March 23 to 30, more than double the figure of the previous week, when Russian forces captured 32.73 square kilometers, according to maps by the OSINT project DeepState.

The main territorial gains of Russian forces were recorded in the Huliaipole direction in northeastern Zaporizhzhia region, where they captured 23.6 square kilometers. At the same time, the penetration zone there and in neighboring Dnipropetrovsk region—where Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out successful counteroffensive actions—decreased by a combined 36.2 square kilometers.

In Donetsk region, Russian forces advanced near Pokrovsk, as well as toward the cities of Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk, capturing a total of 33.98 square kilometers (while the penetration zone decreased by nearly 16 square kilometers). Meanwhile, in the Lyman direction in the north of the region, the advance of Russian forces was halted. In the previous week, Russian forces had captured about 38 square kilometers along the front between Kostiantynivka and Lyman, while no advances were recorded near Pokrovsk.

At the beginning of the previous week, Russian forces also managed to capture 11.03 square kilometers in northeastern Kharkiv region near the border with Russia, where no advances had been recorded since last year. At the same time, their advance in the neighboring Vovchansk direction was stopped.

Thus, according to DeepState, the total occupied area of Ukrainian territory increased by 68.61 square kilometers over the week, while the penetration zone decreased by 61.37 square kilometers.

On average, over the past week, Russian forces advanced by 9.8 square kilometers per day, while the penetration zone decreased by an average of 8.8 square kilometers daily.

In the previous week, Russian forces advanced at an average rate of 4.7 square kilometers per day.
