The death toll from a Russian overnight attack on the city of Dnipro has risen to 12, including two children, according to Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Hanzha.
Rescue workers recovered the bodies of a woman and an eight-year-old boy from beneath the rubble of a heavily damaged four-story apartment building. The search-and-rescue operation remains ongoing, with authorities warning that additional people may still be trapped under the debris.
A total of 37 people were injured in the attack. Twenty-two remain hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, fractures, lacerations, blast injuries and acoustic trauma.

Earlier, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported six deaths and 33 injuries in Dnipro. Among the victims was a firefighter who was killed when Russian forces launched a second strike while emergency crews were responding to the initial attack. The incident highlights the continued use of so-called “double-tap” strikes targeting first responders.
The attack caused significant destruction across the city. A two-story and a four-story residential building were partially destroyed, while an industrial facility, garages and vehicles were also damaged or destroyed. A local fire and rescue station sustained damage, with the blast wave shattering windows throughout the building.
Emergency crews have extinguished fires caused by the strikes and continue to work at the scene with the support of search dogs and psychologists.

The overnight assault also affected other parts of Dnipropetrovsk region. In the city of Kamianske, a fire broke out on the second floor of a five-story residential building. Administrative buildings and private homes were damaged, and three people were injured. A 50-year-old man and two women aged 49 and 72 were hospitalized in moderate condition.
According to regional authorities, Russian forces targeted five districts of the region using missiles and drones. In Dnipro, a 22-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman were reported to be in serious condition. Twenty-four people, including a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were hospitalized with injuries of moderate severity, while others received outpatient treatment.
Additional damage was reported in Nikopol district, where the city of Nikopol and the Chervonohryhorivka, Pokrovske and Marhanets communities came under attack. Residential buildings, including apartment blocks and private homes, were damaged.
In Synelnykove district, Russian strikes targeted the Vasylkivka community, causing a fire in an unused building. In Kryvyi Rih district, the Apostolove community was hit, resulting in another fire.
Authorities continue rescue efforts in Dnipro as emergency services assess the full extent of the damage caused by the attack.
