Russian forces carried out widespread attacks across Ukraine over the past day, leaving civilians dead and injured in the Kherson, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, according to regional authorities and prosecutors.
In the southern Kherson region, a 62-year-old man was killed early on June 1 when a Russian drone struck a bus stop in the village of Shyroka Balka.
Prosecutors said the attack happened around 04:10, when the drone dropped explosives on a street in the settlement. The man died at the scene. Authorities have opened an investigation into a war crime resulting in civilian death. Local officials also reported continued shelling and drone strikes across dozens of settlements in the region over the past day, damaging homes, infrastructure, gas pipelines and vehicles, and leaving additional civilians injured.
In the northeastern Sumy region, Russian forces launched over 90 attacks on 41 settlements across 21 communities within a 24-hour period. Authorities said the region came under fire from mortars, artillery, multiple rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs.
Civilian casualties were reported in several communities. In one of the attacks, four men were injured in Bilopillia, while women were wounded in Berezivka, Sumy and other areas. A drone strike on a vehicle in Seredyna-Buda also left a man injured. Across the region, residential buildings, schools, infrastructure facilities and vehicles were damaged, with the heaviest shelling recorded in Sumy and Shostka districts.
In the Kharkiv region, nine civilians were injured after a series of Russian strikes involving drones, missiles and artillery. The city of Kharkiv was among the targets, where several women aged 34 to 76 were injured. Additional casualties were reported in nearby communities including Bogodukhiv, Zolochiv and Oskil.
Officials said Russia used a combination of missiles, FPV drones, “Geran-2” and “Molniya” UAVs, as well as rocket artillery and guided bombs. The attacks damaged apartment blocks, private homes, cars, garages, schools, and critical infrastructure such as gas and electricity networks.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, four people were wounded in Russian attacks on the Nikopol district and surrounding areas. A 54-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition, while a 52-year-old man remains under medical care. Two other women are being treated on an outpatient basis.
Strikes also triggered fires in the city of Dnipro, where a garden house and garage were damaged.
In the eastern Donetsk region, Russian shelling killed one civilian in the town of Druzhkivka on May 31. Eight other people were injured across the region over the same period, according to local authorities.
Officials noted that the total casualty figures do not include areas such as Mariupol and Volnovakha, which remain under Russian occupation.
