The 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces has been included in the Ukrainian Book of Records for its significant contribution to holding a defensive sector and its daily repelling of Russian attacks in the area of Mala Tokmachka.

This was reported on the brigade’s Facebook page.

As noted, the certificate confirming the national record was presented to the command of the 118th Mechanized Brigade by Oleh Ivanenko, head of the supervisory board of the national project “Ukrainian Book of Records.” The brigade emphasized that the village of Mala Tokmachka has become one of the longest continuously held defensive positions in the modern Russian–Ukrainian war. Ukrainian Defense Forces have continuously maintained control over this sector for more than 1,500 days — under constant assault conditions, artillery fire, as well as air and drone pressure.

“In reality, the national record is merely a formal acknowledgment for history. The real reward for our titans is every meter of Ukrainian land preserved. Honor and respect to all soldiers and all units who held and continue to hold the line in the area of Mala Tokmachka,” the 118th Mechanized Brigade stated.

The 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade is a mechanized unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces and is part of the 17th Army Corps. Since the summer of 2023, the brigade has been engaged in combat operations on the Zaporizhzhia direction.

The sleeve insignia of the 118th Mechanized Brigade features three golden arrows set on a diagonally divided red-and-green shield. The design draws directly from the heraldic symbols of Poltava, the city where the brigade is based.
