Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Russian and Iranian companies and individuals that assist Russia in weapons production—130 individuals and 48 legal entities—as well as on 10 Russian Paralympians who participated in the war against Ukraine, the press service of the head of state reported.

“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees implementing the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on applying sanctions against Russian and Iranian companies and individuals servicing Russia’s defense-industrial complex, as well as Paralympians who justify Russian aggression and spread Russian propaganda,” the statement on the president’s website said on Sunday.

The sanctions package targeting the defense sector includes 130 individuals and 48 legal entities. Among them are companies involved in supplying components for the production of “Kometa” series satellite navigation equipment, which is used in Russian drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, guided munitions, and aircraft that Russia uses to strike Ukrainian cities and communities. This includes enterprises involved in producing the “Oreshnik” missile system.

The list also includes Iranian companies and individuals involved in producing Iranian drones and missiles, which are used not only against Ukraine but also in the Middle East against Gulf countries. These entities assisted Russia in launching, deploying, and scaling production of “Shahed” drones in Russia. Sanctions also target Iranian instructors who trained Russian “Shahed” operators that subsequently attacked Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure.

“The Russian and Iranian defense-industrial complexes have long been interconnected. This sanctions package identifies key participants involved in producing weapons used by Russia against Ukraine and by Iran against multiple countries. The world must do much more to break these supply chains, particularly for critical components, and effectively counter this cooperation. We will work to synchronize these sanctions,” said Vladyslav Vlasyuk, presidential adviser and authorized official on sanctions policy.

Another sanctions decision targets 10 Russian Paralympians. All of them participated in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. They spread Russian propaganda and use sporting events as platforms to whitewash Russian crimes and occupation.
