The Ukrainian-Estonian developer of unmanned systems Black Forest Systems has raised $400,000 in investment from the Swedish companies Front Ventures and Hede Capital Partners AB, the developer said in a post on LinkedIn on Thursday.
According to the release, the investment is intended to accelerate the development and industrialization of Black Forest Systems’ unmanned systems, primarily designed for infantry use.
“Our mission is to shift complexity from the operator to the technology itself,” said Black Forest Systems CEO Oleksandr Davydenko.
The company noted that it has a flagship system, SHADOX — a reconnaissance complex designed for rapid deployment and close-range operations.
Black Forest Systems clarified that, unlike traditional FPV systems that rely on specialized external operators, the developer focuses on enabling advanced unmanned systems to be operated without extensive piloting experience.
“Black Forest Systems represents a new generation of systems tailored for infantry and special forces, where autonomy, simplicity, and rapid deployment are central. We see strong structural growth drivers in this segment,” said Front Ventures CEO Jonas Malmgren in the release.
Earlier, Black Forest Systems also received investment from the Finnish-Ukrainian investment company Double Tap Investments Ltd.
The unmanned systems developer Black Forest Systems was founded in 2024. The company’s main goal is to develop unmanned systems for infantry, incorporating design based on real combat conditions.
Front Ventures is a Swedish public investment company that, since the summer of 2025, has specialized in financing defense projects, particularly in Ukraine and Sweden.
Hede Capital Partners AB is a Swedish investment company founded in 2024.
